Showcasing the photographic work of Steven Lee
There is more to India than Bollywood. Why not try a slightly
different perspective on India and the Indian Ocean.
Steven Lee is a freelance travel and fine art photgrapher
based in London and has had several solo and joint exhibitions
in London and Kuala Lumpur. In 2000, Steven published his
first black and white photography book titled "outside
looking in Kuala Lumpur", the culmination of a
personal project to document the modern changes facing his
home city.
Transcendence is a collection of his work focussing on India
and the Indian Ocean communities of India. His photographic
style stems from an interest in the photo-documentary image
though he is increasingly experimenting with the abstract
and fine art realm. In this series, candid street portraits
are mixed with close-up abstract compositions of devotees
to suggest intimacy and a greater element of depth granted
to the viewer.
Kare Kare, is a relatively new restaurant in South Kensington
named after the famous New Zealand surfing beach where the
owner spent much of his time, and was inspired to marry his
passion for excellent Indian food and the sea.
